From the Locust Grove events calendar:
“It is believed that Aaron Burr dined with Major William Croghan the year after his fateful duel with Alexander Hamilton. To celebrate Locust Grove’s 2017 re-opening and to commemorate Aaron Burr’s 260th birthday (Feb. 6- 2 days following this event), we’re throwing a party! Join us for cake, trivia, and a discussion of the infamous Burr-Hamilton Duel in 1804. Jason Hiner, Locust Grove first-person interpreter and history aficionado, will tell us about the Hamilton-Burr duel and how it became a gruesome symbol of the bitter and partisan political infighting among America’s founders. This talk explores who Hamilton and Burr were, the different opinions they had about politics and politicians, and why their differences led to a duel that left Hamilton dead and turned America’s Vice-President into an outlaw. General admission $5. Locust Grove member admission $3. Refreshments will be served. We welcome Hamilton fans to come and talk about future Hamilton (and Burr) programs!”
