Dr. Anita Morgan will present “Motors and Mass Rallies: Expanding the Movement after 1909” and explore Hoosier activists’ efforts to publicize women’s right to vote with automobile tours, street meetings and large demonstrations and their understanding that adding new groups of marginalized people (like African-American men and women) and more public events could convince reluctant politicians to vote in favor of women’s suffrage.
Dr. Morgan is an IUPUI Senior Lecturer in History, a speaker for the Indiana Women’s Suffrage Centennial and author of “We Must Be Fearless,” a forthcoming book about Indiana women’s suffrage.
This program will be held ONLINE via Zoom. Please use this link to join us: https://bit.ly/SIGSSept2020
