Descendants of Clark, Floyd, and Harrison Counties settlers will present “Stories of the First Families” at the June 2 program of the Southern Indiana Genealogical Society (SIGS). Ancestral accounts will include those of the Hanspire, Kepley, Lewis, Rakestraw, and Sonner families and allied kin. The role of the Ohio River in early tri-county immigration and commerce will be discussed. The program is part of the “First Families Bicentennial Legacy Project” which identifies tri-county pioneers and their direct descendants and preserves those families’ histories.
